Offset copes using the SYNC Notcher 

There may be times where you find it necessary to perform an offset cope. To accomplish this, determine how much of an offset there needs to be and then place the appropriate combination of shim plates between the swing bar and the drive arbor housing. Keep in mind that any offset less than the tube centerline will require that you feed the joining tube through the hole you just notched rather than laying it in. 

See the illustration……… There are 6 shims provided with the SYNC NOTCHING SYSTEM. When combined they will make any thickness up to 2” (by 16ths) . See the quick reference chart below to help figure the combinations

No More Prying!

Most notchers cannot perform offset copes. And for those that can - they are either: 1) very limited to smaller diameter tubing or 2) you have to do that "pry and cut" thing! (And if you are attempting to offset cope a thicker-walled pipe, could you even begin to pry that piece out of the way?) But coping is no problem for the SYNC Notcher.

It’ll even do angle offset copes.

Caution: Holesaw binding (or hangups) are more likely to happen in an offset coping situation than at any other time. Please use extra care to securely hold the drill motor correctly to avoid injury.

Note: If you are attempting an offset cope - be aware that the greater the angle the greater the possibility of the 180 degree cut being misaligned. However, any irregularity can usually be fixed with a small amount of sanding
